It’s a tale as old as time: When one Elvis leaves the building, another Elvis enters.

Just months after the premiere of Elvis, the biopic featuring a star-making performance from Austin Butler in the title role, Variety reports that Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi has been cast as the King of Rock and Roll in a new biopic about Elvis’s wife, Priscilla Presley. Cailee Spaeny will play the lead in Priscilla, the forthcoming Sofia Coppola–directed film, which will begin filming in Toronto this fall.

Elordi celebrated the casting news by posting a photo of Elvis wearing his military uniform in the snow, writing in the caption simply, “E."

A24’s Priscilla, based on the 77-year-old’s 1985 memoir, Elvis and Me: The True Story of the Love Between Priscilla Presley and the King of Rock n’ Roll, comes on the heels of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, which garnered rave reviews for Butler’s uncanny performance as the legendary crooner. Suffice to say, it will be a tough act to follow.

And here’s some fun pop culture trivia for ya: For a little over a year between 2020 and 2021, Jacob Elordi dated model Kaia Gerber—as in, the other Elvis actor’s current girlfriend. Either Gerber just brings out the Elvis in her men, or more likely, the Elvis biopic market is oversaturated and all the It boys are clamoring for their chance to take on the King.
