Police, fire department alarmed by 'suspicious' fires in Bullitt County
AFTER INITIALLY BEING SET AT 100,000. THREE SUSPICIOUS FIRES WITHIN THREE MILES IN BULLITT COUNTY. THREE OF THOSE FIRES WERE REPORTED AT BUILDINGS IN HILLVIEW BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND FIVE THIS MORNING. OUR MADELINE CARTER, WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR AND WHAT’S NEXT IN THE INVESTIGATION. THIS IS ALL THAT’S LEFT OF A TRAILER AND TWO BOX TRUCKS AT A BUSINESS WHERE ONE OF THREE SUSPICIOUS FIRES STARTED OVERNIGHT. THE OWNER IS NOW SIFTING THROUGH ALL THE DAMAGE LEFT, WONDERING WHY AND HOW THIS FIRE STARTED. YOU KNOW, IT’S A SHAME THAT YOU KNOW WHY SOMEONE WANTS TO JUST DESTROY OTHER PEOPLE’S PROPERTY, YOU KNOW, THINGS THAT THEY HAVE WORKED FOR. CHEMO WALLACE HAS OWNED DOORS, ETC.. GLASS AND GLAZING FOR NEARLY YEARS, BUT HAS NEVER SEEN IT LOOK LIKE THIS. HE GOT THE CALL AROUND 1230 MONDAY MORNING. WHEN YOU WAKE UP OUT OF A DAY OF SLEEP AND YOU GET THIS, THE WORDS SAYING YOU’RE BUILDINGS ON FIRE, YOU KNOW, IT TAKES A FEW MINUTES TO REALLY SINK IN. IT WASN’T BEFORE WALLACE FOUND OUT HIS SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS CAPTURED MOMENT HIS CAMPER BURST INTO FLAMES. AND HE WASN’T THE ONLY ONE DEALING WITH FIRE DAMAGE. FOR US TO HAVE THREE FIRES IN ONE NIGHT IS A VERY RARE OCCURRENCE. IT WAS A BUSY NIGHT FOR THE ZONE TEN FIRE DEPARTMENT, THREE FIRES AT BUILDINGS WITHIN, THREE MILES. FIRST AT WALLACE BUSINESS ON NORTH WILLIAMS LANE. THE SECOND, 3 HOURS LATER, AT AN OLD TIRE SHOP ON EAST BLUE LICK ROAD. THE LAST REPORT CAME IN JUST BEFORE 4:45 A.M. AT A VACANT BUILDING ON VELVA. THE FLAMES THROUGH THE BUILDING AND SEVERAL VEHICLES, BUT NO ONE WAS HURT. HILLVIEW POLICE SAY THEY HAVEN’T HAD A SUSPICIOUS FIRE IN THE AREA IN SIX YEARS. THEY’RE GETTING ON AN AVERAGE OF 2 TO 3 ACTUAL FIRES IN THEIR AREA A MONTH AND THEN WE GET THREE FIRES IN ONE NIGHT. THAT CERTAINLY DOES RAISE SOME SUSPICION AS TO HOW THEY STARTED AND IF THEY’RE LINKED. HOPEFULLY THEY CAN FIND THEM PRETTY BEFORE THEY DO THAT. SOMEONE
