ELK GROVE – A suspect is in custody accused of a DUI after a hit-and-run in Elk Grove left a pedestrian dead Wednesday morning.

The incident happened a little after 5 a.m. near West Stockton Boulevard and Kyler Road. Elk Grove police said the pedestrian, only described as a 62-year-old man, died at the scene.

Investigators determined the suspect vehicle was moving northbound on West Stockton Boulevard when the collision happened. Traffic and security cameras in the area captured the suspect's vehicle.

The images and vehicle information led authorities to a home in North Sacramento. The vehicle involved in the collision was parked in the driveway with a cover over the damaged area, police said.

The driver and registered owner of the vehicle was identified as Michael Brown, 54. Brown was inside the house when law enforcement arrived and was taken into custody.

Elk Grove police said Brown showed objective signs of impairment at the time of his arrest.

Brown was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and faces charges of hit-and-run resulting in death and drug-related DUI. He was also found to have had a warrant out for his arrest for a drug-related DUI.
