  • Cohosts Jenna Bush Hager, Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, and fans commented to send their well-wishes to Roker.
  • The 68-year-old seems to be in good spirits.

TODAY show anchor Al Roker has been absent from the NBC morning show for a few days, and fans started to question where their favorite weatherman had gone. The 68-year-old finally broke his silence on Friday, revealing to fans and followers via an Instagram post that he had been admitted to the hospital for blood clots in his leg and lungs.

The beloved weatherman shared a photo of a bouquet of flowers placed next to an adorable NBC News Weather coffee mug. He captioned the image, “So many of you have been thoughtfully asking where I’ve been. Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs. After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers and I hope to see you soon. Have a great weekend, everyone.”

Friends, fans, and fellow television hosts took to the comments to send their well-wishes to Roker. Talkshow host Jenna Bush Hager commented, “Love you Al! Hurry home. You are missed and loved beyond measure!” Her co-star Hoda Kotb added, “Al Roker–hurry back to us…counting the days xoxoxo.” And TODAY journalist Savannah Guthrie commented, “You’re the strongest person we know. We miss you and will see you soon!”

Among the thousands of comments Roker received on his post, Roker’s wife and NBC correspondent Deborah Roberts added, “So grateful for the top-notch medical care and prayer warriors from every corner. We love you dearly sweet Al, and can’t wait to get you home,” and celebrity chef and cookbook author Ina Garten added, “Get well soon Al!! Scary stuff but nothing like great doctors!” NBC meteorologist Dylan Dreyer added, “Love you Al, and praying every day for a speedy recovery!”

After the image was posted, TODAY hosts Kotb and Guthrie wished their colleague well on air Friday morning. “It’s hard to slow down Al, but he’s on the mend and he’s on the way to recovery. We love you, Al. We miss you,” Guthrie said on the morning show according to NBC.

The last few years have not been smooth sailing for Roker’s health. In 2019 he revealed he underwent hip replacement surgery and in 2020 he had a total shoulder replacement surgery for “intense” arthritis pain and was diagnosed with “aggressive” prostate cancer. But he has worked hard to combat his health difficulties and even opened up about how he lost 45 pounds over a few months earlier this year and has even started sharing his low-carb keto breakfast recipes so fans can follow along his health journey.

We’re sending well wishes to Roker and his family, and hope to see his smiling face on our televisions again soon!
