Elmhurst Artists' Guild puts out call for art inspired by Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol was one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century. During the summer of 2023, the Cleve Carney Museum of Art in Glen Ellyn will display an important exhibit, "Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop."

In conjunction with that display, the Elmhurst Artists' Guild will exhibit local art inspired by the work of Andy Warhol.

Warhol's large body of work focused on six themes: celebrity, consumerism, money, death and dying, identity, and animals. He is best known for his distinctive style, his image, and his tremendous voice in pop culture and the art world.

The Elmhurst Artists' Guild will be looking to exhibit artworks that somehow reference Warhol's work while also honoring each artist's own aesthetic.

This opportunity is open to both Elmhurst Artists' Guild members and nonmembers.

Artists are invited to create and submit up to two original artworks for exhibit consideration.

Pieces chosen for the exhibit will be selected by a jury panel, based on a review of the digital photos and associated essays submitted.

A nonrefundable submission fee will be required for jury review. No refunds will be issued for artwork not chosen for the exhibit.

The entry period continues to April 15, with notification of acceptance on May 15.

The show will be June 11 to July 28, with an artists reception on June 23, at the Elmhurst Art Museum, 150 S. Cottage Hill Ave.
