This prompts the copper to apologise to Ricky Jr. for his anger and for neglecting him in favour of his sister Amy.

The pair are later spotted by Sam leaving for the police station and she feels awful.

Everything you need to know about Eastenders

As diehard fans of the London-based soap may know, Ricky and Sam were once married for five years, from 1991 to 1996.

The pair eloped to Gretna Green after Sam expressed her wishes of getting married at the young age of sixteen.

However, she soon grew bored and left Ricky in 1993.

Years down the line, Ricky was still unable to forget her and even had a one night stand with her amid his romance with Natalie Evans.

Ricky had to wait until 2009 for Sam to be ready to give him another chance by getting engaged for a second time.

But the intrepid Sam embarked on an affair with Jack Branning, which ultimately led to Ricky Jr.'s birth.

Ricky Butcher discovered Sam was pregnant after tying the knot with Bianca Jackson.

Although it was unsure who was the baby daddy, Sam named Ricky as the father... until a paternity test revealed she was lying and the baby was Jack's.
