UP A LITTLE LATER ON THIS HALF HOUR. WE CONTINUE FOLLOWING BREAKING NEWS IN CASS COUNTY WHERE WE WHERE WE ARE STILL AT THE SCENE OF A DEADLY WRECK. POLICE CONFIRM A THREE YEAR OLD GIRL DIED AT THE SCENE. FIVE OTHERS WERE HURT. NEWSCHOPPER 9 WAS ABOVE THE SCENE LAST HOUR AT SEVEN HIGHWAY IN FREEDOM ROAD. THAT’S BETWEEN HARRISON VILLE AND GARDEN CITY CAME TO. CNN’S BRIAN JOHNSON IS NOW LIVE AT THE SCENE. AND BRIAN, SEVERAL VICTIMS HAD TO BE. YES, SAID THAT’S CORRECT. SEVERAL VICTIMS WERE LIFEFLIGHT. THAT ONE PERSON DIED HERE AT THE SCENE. HARRISON HARRISON VILLE POLICE SAY THAT THIS IS A FATAL ACCIDENT. THE SUV, A FORD ESCAPE, LEFT THE NORTHBOUND LANES AND ROLLED IN THE MEDIAN. IT IS NOW ON A TOW TRUCK BEHIND ME AND IT THE HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS THERE WERE SOME PASSENGERS WHO ARE INSIDE THE SUV WHO WERE NOT RESTRAINED. TO TAKE A LOOK AT SOME VIDEO WE SHOT EARLIER. THERE WERE SIX PEOPLE INSIDE THIS AS SUV, THREE ADULTS, THREE CHILDREN. THE CHILDREN WERE UNDER THE AGES OF TEN YEARS OLD. NOW, SOME OF THE PASSENGERS WERE EJECTED. WE’RE LEARNING A THREE YEAR OLD GIRL WAS INSIDE, SAID SHE DIED HERE. TWO OTHERS WERE TAKEN TO AREA HOSPITALS WITH MODERATE AND MINOR INJURIES. THIS WAS A SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH. NO OTHER CARS WERE INVOLVED. AT LEAST THREE AGENCIES RESPONSE ENDED, INCLUDING THE HIGHWAY PATROL, CASS COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES, AND HARRISON VILLE POLICE. AT THIS HOUR, THE NORTHBOUND LANES REMAIN CLOSED. THE MISSOURI HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS THEY ARE BEGINNING THEIR INVESTIGATION. THAT WILL TAKE A LOT OF TIME. THEY’LL BE LOOKING INTO SPEED IF DRIVER BEHAVIOR OR MECHANICAL ERRORS CONTRIBUTED TO THIS ACCIDENT. AND THEY’RE ASKING ANYONE WHO WAS AROUND HERE THIS AFTERNOON, AROUND JUST MINUTES BEFORE 4:00, IF THEY SAW ANYTHING ALONG HIGHWAY SEVEN TO REPORT IT AS THEY CONTINUE THEIR INVESTIGATION. Seven people were inside the vehicle when it overturned on Missouri 7 Highway

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released more information about a wreck that claimed the life of a 3-year-old girl Tuesday. A crash report states seven people were inside a 2000 Ford Explorer when the SUV traveled off the left side of Missouri 7 Highway. Crash investigators said the driver overcorrected, causing the SUV to skid, overturn, and come to rest in the median of the highway.The 3-year-old girl was not buckled in at the time of the crash. She was thrown from the SUV and pronounced dead on the scene.The crash report states two other juveniles, both 10-year-old boys, were also in the vehicle. Only one of them was buckled in. Four adults ranging in age from 23 to 65 were also in the vehicle; none of them were wearing seatbelts. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all seven occupants of the SUV were from Brinkley, Arkansas.The crash happened Tuesday afternoon, just before 4 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Missouri 7 Highway just east of Freedom Road in Cass County. All six surviving occupants of the SUV were taken to an area hospital for treatment after the crash. This crash remains under investigation.
