IT HAPPENED JUST BEFORE TEN LAST NIGHT NEAR 80TH AND EUCLID. WHEN POLICE ARRIVED, THEY FOUND A MAN WHO’D BEEN SHOT. HE WAS TAKEN TO A NEARBY HOSPITAL WHERE HE LATER DIED. The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department has confirmed that it is investigating a homicide following a reported shooting on Saturday night. Just before 10 p.m., officers were dispatched to 80th street and Euclid Ave. on the reported sound of gunshots.Upon arrival, officers located an adult male at the rear of the residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.Sunday afternoon, police identified the man as 60-year-old Glen A. Vassie. It was Vassie's birthday on the day of the shooting. Police say they began life-saving measures until EMS arrived on the scene and continued those efforts.Vassie was transported to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries shortly thereafter.KCPD says an investigation revealed a disturbance at the residence that resulted in the victim being shot.There is a subject of interest in custody. Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel are conducting area canvasses for evidence and witnesses.If anyone saw anything in that area or has any information, they are asked to contact the Homicide Unit directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS.There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline that results in an arrest.KCPD is working with Partners for Peace in all homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
