WOODSTOCK, GA — A Roswell resident was sentenced in a Cherokee County court to 50 years in prison after a 12-year-old girl told authorities the man had been hurting her in 2016, Acting District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway said in a news release Tuesday.

Luis Alberto Angeles, 41, was convicted by a jury of rape, child molestation and incest on Feb. 3, Treadaway said in the release.

Superior Court Judge Tony Baker sentenced Angeles on Feb. 22 to 50 years in prison followed by life on probation with sex offender special conditions, Treadaway said.

The girl told the Woodstock Police Department in September 2016 that Angeles was hurting her. She participated in two separate forensic interviews, during which Treadaway said she gave specific acts Angeles was accused of committing through the years, when the girl was as young as 8-years-old.

Evidence against Angeles included seven witnesses and forensic interviews, Treadaway said.

“Throughout the prosecution of this case, the victim never wavered, and through her resilience, we were able to ensure the defendant will never hurt her, or her loved ones again," said Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Rachel Hines, of the Special Victims Unit, in the release.
