Bacteria Levels Unsafe At Will Rogers, Malibu Beaches: County

Routine testing revealed unsafe bacteria levels at Malibu- and Santa Monica-area beaches.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Elevated bacteria levels at Will Rogers State Beach and several other area beaches are unsafe for swimming, county health officials announced.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health on Monday said routine testing revealed that bacteria levels exceeded health standards at Malibu Lagoon at Surfrider Beach, Marie Canyon Storm Drain at Puerco Beach, Santa Monica Canyon Creek at Will Rogers State Beach and Topanga Beach.

Additionally, bacteria levels were deemed unsafe at Santa Monica Pier, Mothers Beach in Marina Del Rey and Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro.
