Multiple people have been injured after a truck reportedly crashed into pedestrians outside an airport.

The incident at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington appears to have been an accident and not intentional, officials told ABC News.

Police are at the scene investigating the incident. The crash occurred at around 2pm local time (10pm BST).

The airport confirmed in a post on Twitter earlier that the Port of Seattle Police Department and Fire Department is responding to a vehicle accident on the upper drive of the airport.

Three people have been injured and transported to area hospitals, they said.

It was noted that the upper drive will be closed for an "undetermined amount of time" while people were warned to use alternate access options.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport's official Twitter account tweeted earlier tonight: "A vehicle collision has occurred on the Upper Departures Drive. Port of Seattle Police and Fire are on scene.

"The Departures drive is currently closed. Please use the Lower Arrivals Drive for drop off. We will provide an update as we have more info."
