A red van crashed into the outdoor seating area of a Belltown bar Thursday morning and the driver bolted following the collision.

The crash occurred shortly after 5 a.m. at Some Random Bar, located near the intersection of First Avenue and Vine Street. Seattle police and fire crews were on the scene.

The bar itself was not hit by the vehicle.

Police said a witness told them they saw the van run a red light and hit the wooden awning. The officer who spoke to KOMO News said the case could be a possible DUI situation.

Some Random Bar's owner told KOMO News he's had the business for 11 years and said he's unsure if he'll be open Thursday.

Photos and video from the scene show the awning destroyed and outdoor area heavily damaged.

A Belltown resident, Kirill — who only provided his first name — said he knows the owner and was a regular at Some Random Bar.

"The patio was completely crashed. It looks like a disaster," Kirill said. "It's a really nice place to go to. The owners are really, really nice people, the food was really nice. It's sad to see this happen here."
