“Super-Sized” ‘Bluey’ Special Episode ‘The Sign’ Gets Trailer

Bluey has become a worldwide kids TV phenomenon and the first special in the show’s history is nearing.

Today, a trailer dropped for ‘The Sign’, a special 30-minute episode that’s four times as long as usual for the animated series about a family of heeler dogs in Australia. Watch it above.

The episode will see the Heeler family getting ready for the ‘wedding event of the year.’ Producers say to expect “laughs, a few tears and exciting guest voices in this super-sized episode.”

The trailer begins with Bluey, the titular blue heeler dog sitting on her porch wearing headphones and looking concerned, as her mother’s tells her in voiceover, “Everything will work out the way it’s supposed to.”

Later, it appears that was, as she says, “This is the best day of all my life.”

This special episode introduces Rove McManus, Deborah Mailman, Brendan Williams, and Joel Edgerton, who are making their Bluey debuts.

Ahead of the special, Bluey will premiere a brand new episode on April 7 titled ‘Ghostbasket’ which will see the return of the much-loved Grannies, Janet and Rita, played by Bluey and Bingo.

‘The Sign’ will premiere globally on Disney+, Disney Channel, Disney Junior and ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) on Sunday, April 14. It debuts 12am PT on Disney+.

BBC Studios is the distributor. Bluey was the second-most streamed title in U.S. streaming last year, according to Nielsen. It took 43.9 billion viewing minutes in total, and has won BAFTA and an International Emmy.

Penned by Bluey creator and writer Joe Brumm, directed by Richard Jeffery, and produced by Ludo Studio, the episode will see Dave McCormack and Melanie Zanetti reprise their roles as Bandit and Chilli Heeler. Patrick Brammall returns as the voice of Uncle Rad, Claudia O’Doherty as Frisky, Megan Washington as Calypso, Myf Warhurst as Trixie, and Rose Byrne as Aunt Brandy.

Jointly commissioned by ABC Children’s and BBC Studios Kids & Family, Bluey is produced by multi-Emmy award-winning Ludo Studio in association with Screen Queensland and Screen Australia. Disney+ has worldwide rights, with the BBC airing it in the UK.
