‘Stupid’ couple spend hours cracking open cash machine they bought at auction – only to be left stunned at the contents

The pair were stunned when they finally got inside

A COUPLE have been branded "stupid" after spending hours trying to bust open an old cash machine they bought at auction.

The pair explained that they had picked up the ATM, and although they didn't say how much they'd spent on it, they were hoping to find at least £10,000 ($12,000) inside.

They took to TikTok to share two lengthy videos of themselves trying to get into the complex machine.

It took some huge tools, including a mallet, hammer and metal shearer.

At several points throughout the video it seemed as though they were about to get inside.

"We're so close!" they kept exclaiming.

But they had to get through numerous layers to get to the cash box - where the money is held.

And when they finally did - they disappointingly found that it was empty.

The conclusion of the two videos left people online fuming, particularly those who had watched the duration of both.

"Save your time there is no money in the ATM," one raged.

"Lol they really thought there was money in it?" another questioned.

As someone else said: "Double spoiler alert, it's empty!"

I bought an old suitcase a an auction and had no clue what was in it - it was a gamble but the results were priceless

"I just wasted 2 minutes on nothing," another sighed.

"No money in part 1 & 2," someone else said.

"Time saved - 10m 8s!"

"It’s empty, just save to save you all the time!" another commented.

"Got bored halfway through," someone else admitted.

And others insisted the pair were "stupid" to have expected any money to be in there in the first place.

"There are NEVER money in these," one wrote.

"Not even once!

"I haven't finished this video, but I know the end!"

"They don't leave money in the machine," another added.

"As if a financial institution would not empty it first," a third laughed.

While someone else wrote: "Surely they are always going to clear the cash out first??"

To which another replied: "Yep, seen 3 different people do this. All were empty.
