Body found inside burned car in St. Gabriel identified as Prairieville man

The St. Gabriel Police Department have identified a body that was found inside the trunk of a burned car Thursday night, Feb. 29.

ST. GABRIEL, La. (WAFB) - The St. Gabriel Police Department is investigating after a body was found inside the trunk of a burned car Thursday night, Feb. 29.

Jarrous Kimo Mitchell, 28, of Prairieville, has been identified by police.

According to St. Gabriel Police Chief Kevin Ambeau, the call came in around 8:45 p.m. about a vehicle fire. Officials confirmed the car was found on the side of the road in the area of 4445 Point Clair Road, which is near the Old White Castle Ferry Landing in St. Gabriel.

The East Iberville Parish Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Authorities added while doing so, they discovered the body of Mitchell inside the trunk of the vehicle.

The crime scene is currently being investigated by the St. Gabriel Police Department with the help of the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab, the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, and members of the 18th Judicial District DA’s Office Investigators.

Investigators say they are unable to confirm the make or model of the car at this time.

There are currently no motives or suspects in this case.
