Ramlogan, fired East U-19s to easy victory.

Central and Tobago have advanced to the semi-finals of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board Under-19 InterZone competition with both teams maintaining their unbeaten record when the final round group stage matches were played on Monday.

Tobago topped Group A following an easy eight-wicket victory over North Zone at the Brian Lara Recreation Ground in Santa Cruz while Central defeated South-East by five wickets at Sancho Recreation Ground in New Grant. In Santa Cruz, North were put in to bat and dismissed for 119 on 29.5 overs. Michael Ramdass was the best bowler for Tobago with four wickets for 14 runs while Jayden Kent (2/22) and Brandon Melville (2/10) chipped in with two wickets each.

In reply, Tobago got to 123 for two off 19.4 overs with Daviel Thomas hitting 51 not out off 58 balls and Orlando James scoring a run-a-ball unbeaten 38.

In the other Group A game, East, led by Rondell Ramlogan’s 113, defeated North-East by 167 runs to clinch the runners-up spot and a place in the semis.

East posted 283 all out with Ramlogan facing 72 balls and hitting ten sixes and seven fours. Christian Lall was the next highest scorer for East with 57 off 47 deliveries. In reply, North-East crashed to 116 all out in 32 overs with Alejandro Kassiram (2/21), Jedidiah John (2/8) and Samir Saroop (2/10) grabbing two wickets each. In New Grant, Luke Ali struck an unbeaten 107 for Central to lead them to victory over South-East. Batting first, South-East were restricted to 212 for nine off 46 overs with Rahul top-scoring for the hosts with 69.

Central replied with 215 for five off 34.3 overs with Justin Jagessar’s 47 starting them on the path to victory and Ali taking them over the finish line. The semi-finals of the U-19 InterZone will be contested next month.
