Round Lake administrator will be next Kaneland superintendent

A Lake County educator will be the next superintendent of Kaneland Unit District 302.

The school board has chosen Kurt E. Rohlwing, the assistant superintendent of Round Lake Area Unit District 116, to replace Todd Leden, who is retiring after the 2024-25 school year.

Rohlwing has been an educator for 23 years, according to a news release from Kaneland.

“Overall, the board of education sees the new superintendent as a highly qualified candidate with the experience, education, and leadership skills needed to lead the school district into the future successfully,” said school board President Addam Gonzales in the release.

Rohlwing obtained his doctorate in educational leadership from Aurora University.

“I was drawn to this opportunity due to the strength of the community and my family, and I look forward to becoming a part of the Kaneland community over the next couple of years,” Rohlwing said in the release.

During the 2024-25 school year, Rohlwing will meet with Kaneland employees, parents, staff members and others, tour the schools, review curricula and analyze the community’s goals, according to the release.

Rohlwing will be paid $220,000 yearly starting July 1, 2025, according to the contract the board approved. He will have to move into the district by July 1, 2026.
