A middle school teacher from Dorchester District Two, Shane Michael Stryker, of Summerville, is currently facing felony charges related to unlawful eavesdropping. Stryker was arrested Feb. 3 in Cobb County, Georgia, on the specific charge of unlawful eavesdropping or surveillance.
The arrest stems from an incident on May 21 in Cobb County, where Stryker allegedly placed a cellphone in a hotel bathroom. The phone, concealed with clothing and only the camera lens exposed, was discovered by the victim, who reported that it was recording video.
Records from the jail indicate that Stryker posted bail on the same day he was booked. Currently employed as a math teacher at Alston Middle School, Stryker is on administrative leave, as confirmed by the school district, which declined to provide further comments on the charges.
