FARGO — Devils Lake made program history Saturday night at the Fargdome.
Senior guard Wylee Delorme scored 16 points and added seven rebounds to lead the
No. 2-seeded Firebirds to a 59-54 victory against top-seeded Kindred
for the North Dakota Division A state boys basketball championship. Delorme was named the tournament's most valuable player.
Devils Lake won its first state title since 1925. Junior forward
Joel Nelson added 15 points
for the Firebirds.
Junior forward Presley Peraza paced Kindred with a game-high 17 points. Junior forward Jake Starcevic added 12 points for the Vikings.
Kindred (25-1) lost its first game this season.
