WEST SALEM, Wis. (WXOW) - After back-to-back losses in the state title game, West Salem hopes to take that next step towards glory.
The Panthers are headed to the Kohl Center once again and will face Pewaukee in the Division 2 semifinal in their first season since jumping up in competition.
Despite that, the team feels playing the brand of ball they do best will carry them this week.
"Good basketball doesn't know divisions," Head Coach Mark Wagner said. "At last year's state tournament, we saw great teams in Division 3. This year in Division 2, we're going to see great teams as well. We've just got to play good basketball."
"Last year, especially the last three years, we've been ranked pretty high," senior Joe Sullivan said. "This year, it didn't seem we were getting that sort of recognition. It felt like we were an under the radar team. and now we're going to state."
The game will be on Friday following the 1:35 p.m. tip between Wisconsin Lutheran and Nicolet at the Kohl Center in Madison. It can be seen on WXOW or streamed on wxow.com.
