A Fall River man is facing several charges after allegedly leading North Smithfield police on a pursuit.

Officers arrested 49-year-old William Fellows on Sunday.

Police responded at 5:30 p.m. for a pursuit that entered into North Smithfield from Woonsocket.

Officials said the suspect was traveling at a high rate of speed down Eddie Dowling Highway.

Police followed the vehicle onto Valley View Drive, where the operator drove behind a residence.

Several officers then exited their vehicles and ran towards the house.

Fellows' vehicle then emerged from the other side, and allegedly began driving in the direction of the officers.

He then re-entered the roadway and the pursuit continued.

Police said the vehicle eventually spun out on Iron Mine Hill Road.

As the lead officer in the pursuit came upon the vehicle, Fellows began driving in his direction and caused the vehicles to collide.

Officers were able to take custody of the operator.

On Wednesday, he was arraigned on North Smithfield Police Department’s charges of felony assault and/or battery, reckless driving and other offenses, and obstructing an officer in execution of duty.

Bond was set at $10,000.00 with surety.
