Suspect wanted in deadly Casa Grande shooting turns himself in to police
CASA GRANDE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — A suspect wanted in a deadly shooting in a Casa Grande neighborhood Monday morning turned himself in to police nearly 24 hours later.
Police say Steven Shinault, 45, was shot multiple times in his chest and stomach area around 7:45 a.m. Monday near Trekell and Korsten roads. The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Casa Grande resident Marcus Hatton, turned himself in to Casa Grande Police Tuesday morning accompanied by his attorney.
Investigators believe the two men knew each other and fought outside a house. After Shinault was shot, he tried to drive away but crashed into some nearby houses in the neighborhood. No one else was injured during the shooting and crash.
Benjamin Galindo-Zarate lives next door to the house that was hit first.
“It’s a very unfortunate incident. We never thought that something like that could happen in this neighborhood,” Galindo-Zarate said.
One other neighbor said he heard loud booms before heading into work this morning that might’ve been the gunshots.
