LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Texas Forestry Museum in Lufkin hosted a Heritage Skills Festival Tuesday, offering attendees the chance to experience and learn various heritage skills.

The free event featured live demonstrations from woodturners, canners, beekeepers, and other hands-on activities.

Museum director Kendall Gay said some of the showcased skills are actual businesses and hobbies.

“It tells the history of the people who lived here, and built this area, and also it tells the current involvement of people who still live here. All of these people are local, and these are activities that they are doing,” said Gay.

Gay hopes attendees discovered new interests and turn these skills into hobbies.
