1 dead, at least 2 injured in Borrego Springs crash involving vehicle and three motorcycles

One person died and others were injured in a crash involving a vehicle and three motorcycles in Borrego Springs on Friday evening.
The crash happened just before 8:45 p.m. on eastbound state Route 78 just east of Borrego Springs Road, according to California Highway Patrol online logs.
One person died at the scene, Cal Fire Capt. Mike Cornette said. One injured person was flown via medical helicopter to a Palm Springs hospital, and one injured person was taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido by ground ambulance. Four others declined transport to a hospital.
Details of what happened were not clear in the CHP online logs, and no further information was immediately available.
