  • And the 48-year-old did not hold back during introductions in the first episode

Deal or No Deal: Island fans have been sent into a frenzy after a popular TV 'villain' returned to screens to 'control the competition.'

The new gameshow premiered earlier this week as 13 contestants competed for a chance to find hidden briefcases worth over $200 million on the banker's private island - all while battling elimination.

But viewers tuning in were stunned as former Survivor contestant Boston Rob, real name Robert Carlo Mariano, made his return to reality TV.

The 48-year-old did not hold back during introductions in the launch episode as he boldly stated: 'If these people are smart, they'll get rid of me right away. But they won't, they never do. I'm a villain.'

He continued: 'This is a completely new experience. We have no idea what's gonna happen.

'I want to control the game. I haven't figured it out yet, but I will.'

The keen competitor drove to the game's first meeting point alongside fellow contestant Aron and wasted little time in probing for information.

Boston asked about his 'background' and after finding out Aron worked in accounting and finance but was not an 'outdoors guy,' the TV veteran set his plan in motion.

'Well you're not an outdoors guy. I'm not so much a numbers guy. Maybe we figure out a way to help each other. Number one and two?,' he said.

Aron initially agreed but, during his confessional, admitted: 'There's two types of games. There's the games where you get backstabbed by Boston Rob or you backstab Boston Rob.

'They say, "keep your friends close and keep your enemies closer." I'm not sure which one he is, but I'm keeping him close either way.'

Later, during a bonding session between team members at night, Boston confessed: 'I hate this part of these games where everybody shares, because I know its all nonsense. I don't want to give away any unnecessary information if I don't have to.'

Towards the conclusion of the first episode, Aron admitted: 'It's funny, with Boston Rob, I feel like I'm signing a deal with the devil.

'But if I have to sign a contract in blood to win the game, I'll do it.'

Following his appearance on screen, social media users were ecstatic and were quick to share their excitement at his return.
