CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The City of Sesser is preparing for the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse with multiple area events.

On Monday, April 8, the Total Solar Eclipse will be visible in Sesser, Illinois. The eclipse starts at 1:58 p.m. and ends at 2:06 p.m.

Leading up to the solar eclipse, multiple events will be held in the area. Starting on April 6, there will be eclipse parties, sports tournaments, food trucks, and more. For a full list of events, you can visit the City of Sesser’s Facebook page.

The City of Sesser is also reminding businesses of the increase in potential customers. They predict that April 4 and April 9 will have a large impact. According to the city, there is a conservative anticipation of 250,000 extra tourists between Effingham and Cairo from April 4 – April 9.

Those planning to visit Sesser are advised to plan ahead as there will be heavy traffic on I-57, Illinois State Route 148, and Illinois State Route 154 in Sesser, plus many other roadways in the region.
