The Arkansas State Police are investigating an incident that led to a 2-year-old child being shot Sunday afternoon.

The Marianna Police Department said they responded to a call of a toddler being shot at an apartment complex in the 200 block of Sealand Street.

The officers said the toddler was playing outside and the shooting was a result of an altercation between two people outside of the complex.

The toddler was taken to a hospital in Memphis, TN where they are listed in critical condition.

During the initial investigation, Criminal Investigation Division (CID) agents from ASP identified two suspects. One suspect, a juvenile, was taken into custody Monday morning. Officials are still searching for the 22-year-old suspect from Marianna.

State police ask those with information to contact CID Company A at (501) 618-8420 or a local law enforcement agency.
