COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Happening Monday in Phenix City, Gaines Chapel AME Church hosted a town hall meeting focused on upcoming elections and voters got a chance to hear political candidates address issues important to the Phenix City-Russell County area.

Several key topics were touched upon and among those are the importance of local and state elections this year, community issues, re-zoning, and building unity in the community.

State Representative Anthony Daniels vying for Alabama’s new second congressional district, Belinda Strickland for probate judge, and incumbent Larry Screws for Russell County Commission talked about solutions to getting young voters to the polls, economic growth opportunities, and environmental concerns.

Voters in Russell County will go back to the polls on April 16th for the runoff election. Our own Roslyn Giles moderated the political forum.
