HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii Ethics Commission fined former Mililani High School Athletics Director Glenn Nitta $274,500 for his theft of funds from the Mililani Athletic Booster Club.

Nitta stole more than $400,000 from the club.

The fine is the largest ever handed out the Hawaii Ethics Commission.

Nitta took money from the booster club account to make monthly payments on personal credit card accounts, wtite checks to himself and family members, pay off personal bills and withdraw cash from ATMs in Las Vegas.

Nitta was convicted in November of eight felonies of theft and failure to pay taxes for the same actions.

Nitta paid the full restitution of $406,000 and was placed on probation.
