Napa Police will have additional officers on patrol for St. Patrick’s Day, in an effort to curb suspected drunken and impaired driving.
The expanded traffic enforcement will be in effect from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Napa Police said in a news release. Officers will look for drivers suspected of being under influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Police also will conduct an educational Know Your Limit program from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Dwight Murray Plaza, on First Street in downtown Napa. Officers will invite volunteers to take Breathalyzer tests and guess their blood alcohol percentage.
“St. Patrick’s Day is a time for celebration, but it’s important to celebrate responsibly,” police Sgt. Aaron Medina said in the statement. “Designating a sober driver before the festivities begin can save lives. It's a simple way to make sure everyone traveling on our roads gets home safely.”
