At least four people are dead and three more were injured after what police believe was a gang shooting at a birthday party in Southern California on Sunday night.

The shooting, which authorities say saw at least people shot, took place in King City in Central California on the 200 block of 2nd Street. 

Police confirmed the four fatalities and said three others were hospitalized for gunshot wounds, according to KION

The four deceased victims were only identified as being adults, a woman and three men. 

King City Police Chief Jim Hunt said the shooting involved three gunmen wearing dark clothing and masks, KSBW reported.

The shooters allegedly arrived at a birthday party, opened fire and then left in a car. 

Police have said that they are looking for a silver Kia. No arrests have been made in the case.

Chris Lopez, the supervisor of Monterey County where the shooting took place, said in a Facebook post he was still waiting for details.

'May the victims find strength and healing, may our first responders remain safe, and may we all help restore peace to our neighborhoods and communities,' Lopez wrote.
