Kansas overcomes early deficit to defeat Bison softball team

Down five runs, the Jayhawks pounded NDSU in the late innings on Sunday in Texas.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Down five runs in the third inning, the Kansas softball team hammered North Dakota State pitching and defeated the Bison 15-6 in six innings on Sunday at the Texas A&M Invitational.

The Bison scored five runs in the first inning and led 6-1 heading into the bottom of the third. But the Jayhawks scored two runs in the third, three more in the fourth, five in the fifth and ended the game with a four-run sixth.

NDSU's Anjolee Aguilar-Beaucage was 2 for 3, Ana Chavarria doubled in a run and Jasmyn Yessian had a hit and an RBI.

The Bison are 6-11 overall and play next against Georgetown and Lipscomb on Friday, March 1, at the Purple/Gold Challenge in Nashville, Tenn.
