Round Lake Beach standoff ends peacefully

A police standoff in Round Lake Beach that began with a report of a child being injured ended peacefully Saturday night, authorities said.

The standoff began after police were called to a home in the 0-100 block of Tallgrass Court at about 5:48 p.m. on a report of a man threatening others with a knife and a child injured. When officers arrived, police said, everyone was out of the home except for the man, who refused to leave.

A tactical unit from the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System was called in to assist and the man eventually surrendered peacefully, police said.

Investigators later learned there was no knife and the child only suffered a scratch during the incident, police said. The matter remains under investigation and police said they would release additional information when it is available.
