LORRAINE Kelly has announced that she is planning to marry a gay couple on her show to celebrate it being one decade since the first same sex wedding in England and Wales.

Although it might come as a shock to remember these days, same sex marriage was only legalised in the UK in 2014.

David Cameron backed the motion in Parliament, saying: "I am a strong believer in marriage.

"It helps people commit to each other and I think it is right that gay people should be able to get married too."

Scottish presenter Lorraine wants to pay tribute to the historic occasion by hosting a wedding on her ITV breakfast show.

She shared the news in a video, saying: "You are cordially invited to a very special occasion.

"It's been ten years since the first same sex marriage and to commemorate a decade of love and commitment, a happy couple will get married right here in this studio - with a very special celebrant."

The chat show queen was appropriately decked out for the festivities, wearing a rainbow coloured maxi dress while making the announcement.

The outfit is also made of sparkly material to add extra flair to the occasion.

Fans rushed to share their support, with one gushing: "Oh my gosh you are a literal angel."

Another added: "One of the best allys for LGBTQIA+ community."

A third exclaimed: "Omg I love this so much!!!"

One person shared the news with their partner, joking: "Surprise we’re getting married!"

The episode will air this Wednesday morning at 9am.
