PRAIRIE GROVE AND TALKED WITH THE MOTHER OF THE GIRL THAT WAS ON THE BICYCLE. THE OFFICIAL POLICE REPORT CAME OUT TODAY.. AND SAID THAT BOTH STUDENTS HAD AN OBSTRUCTED VIEW OF ONE ANOTHER. THE MOM I SPOKE WITH SAYS THAT PEOPLE SHOULDN'T BE WORRYING ABOUT WHO HIT WHO... AND THAT THE MAIN FOCUS SHOULD BE ON IF THE TWO GIRLS ARE OKAY. <> "My kids walk to school, and I know that they're safe." IT WAS A NORMAL WEDNESDAY MORNING FOR JESSICA HOLMES. <> "I had just like all the kids and gone and left school." BUT NOT FOR LONG. <> "Maybe five minutes later, really, because we're so close" THAT'S WHEN SHE GOT THE CALL FROM A FRIEND ABOUT HER 12 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER CHANDLER. <> "She said, Um, hey, Chandler just got hit by I'm like, just got hit by car. And I'm like, what? And I just kind of went into shock, and didn't really know like, you know what I do?" HOLMES RUSHED TO THE HIGH SCHOOL. <> "Just telling myself, okay, she's gonna be okay. She's gonna be okay" FEELING... "Just panic and shock." MINUTES LATER SHE GOT TO HER DAUGHTER. <> "She couldn't really move. There, you know, there's just a lot." HERE'S VIDEO FROM PRAIRIE GROVE POLICE.. OF THE CROSSWALK ON COUNTY ROAD 37 IN FRONT OF PRAIRIE GROVE HIGH SCHOOL. YOU CAN SEE CHANDLER RIDING HER BIKE INTO THE CROSSWALK. <> "My daughter was in the crosswalk crossing.. that van blocked the view of the driver and my daughter to where neither one was able to see each other." AND THEN.. <> "She didn't even know what happened. One minute she's on a ride and there's a thud and she's on the ground." CHANDLER WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL.. BUT IS DOING OKAY TODAY. <> "She's really sore. She's limping around, and she's just kind of like she, she's 12. So she's sad about her bike." HOMES SAYS THAT NOBODY IS AT FAULT - AND THE POLICE REPORT AGREES. <> "It just turned out that it was wrong place wrong time kind of stuff, where you have so much traffic, so many students walking riding bikes, people driving." AND THAT PEOPLE ARE FOCUSING ON THE WRONG THING. <> "There were two kids involved in an accident, let's focus on are they okay? Instead of who? What happened, you know, all this, like, who did this? Who did that? And who said this? And who said that? Let's just make sure that these girls are okay." CHANDLER TOLD HER MOTHER THAT SHE DIDN'T SEE THE CAR COMING.. THE DRIVER OF THE CAR TOLD POLICE SHE DID NOT SEE THE BIKE UNT

Police say the bicycle and car involved in the crash both had obstructed views

According to a police report, there was a collision between a student on a bike and a student driving a car outside of Prairie Grove High School on Wednesday morning. The report says that the two students had obstructed views of each other before they ran into each other. Jessica Holmes is the mother of 12-year-old Chandler, who was on the bicycle. “My daughter was in the crosswalk crossing," Holmes said. "That van blocked the view of the driver and my daughter to where neither one was able to see each other.”Holmes got the call from a friend about the accident. “I was just telling myself, OK, she's going to be OK, she's going to be OK," Holmes said. Holmes and her family live just down the road from the crosswalk and the high school. “She didn't even know what happened," Holmes said. "One minute, she's on a ride, and there's a thud, and she's on the ground.”Holmes says that there are too many people worrying about who hit who and that the main focus should be on something else. “There were two kids involved in an accident, let's focus on if they are OK," Holmes said. "Instead of who, and all this, who did this? Who did that? And who said this? And who said that? Let's just make sure that these girls are OK.”
