Video of the fatal shooting in February of an armed man who ran from police in Marana has been released by the multi-agency law enforcement team that investigates police-involved shootings here.
The Feb. 10 shooting started about 5:30 p.m. at a gas station on the corner of West Ina Road and Old Father Drive when Tobin Pico ran from officers as they were about to arrest him on suspicion of aggravated DUI, the video from the Pima County Regional Critical Incident Team shows.
Officers quickly realized during the chase that Pico had a handgun. The video shows him firing the weapon while walking along the Canyon Del Oro river path as more officers converged on the area.
Pico ignored repeated commands to drop the gun, and as he moved toward businesses in the 6900 block of North Thornydale Road, Pico was shot by an officer armed with a rifle, the narrated video shows.
