Four attorneys, including three from the Lincoln area, are in the running to be Nebraska's newest district court judge.
Following a public hearing Tuesday, a Judicial Nominating Commission for the Sixth Judicial District forwarded the following names on to Gov. Jim Pillen: Zachary Blackman and Erik Fern, both of Lincoln; Michael Jensen of Omaha; and James McGough of Waverly.
Blackman and Fern both are with the Nebraska Attorney General's Office, Jensen is with Prentiss Grant LLC, and McGough is with McGough Law PC.
Pillen ultimately will choose one to serve as district court judge for Burt, Cedar, Dakota, Dixon, Dodge, Thurston and Washington counties.
The judicial vacancy, based in Blair, is due to the retirement of Judge John E. Samson.
