Four people were arrested Friday following a pursuit near Gretna, the Nebraska State Patrol said.
At about 7 p.m. Friday, a trooper observed a westbound Kia Forte speeding more than 100 mph and passing vehicles on the shoulder of Interstate 80 near Gretna.
The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the car continued at a high rate of speed. The trooper then pursued the car, which continued to pass other vehicles on the shoulder at speeds of about 120 mph, according to a State Patrol news release.
The driver of the Forte then struck a sign at the Gretna interchange at mile marker 432. The car's four occupants ditched the car and fled on foot toward the Nebraska Crossing outlet mall north of the interchange.
Inside a business, the trooper located one of the occupants, who was brought into custody. Troopers and Sarpy County Sheriff's Office deputies then located two additional occupants a short time later and took them into custody.
The fourth occupant was located and brought into custody about an hour later with the help of a State Patrol helicopter.
The State Patrol discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier Friday. Troopers located two handguns inside the vehicle, one of which was stolen.
The suspects include Ciara Johnson, 29, Jarvell Moore, 19 and Keyon Rockwell, 26, all of Omaha, and Anthony Barnum, 28, of Lincoln. All four were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and obstructing a peace officer and were lodged in the Sarpy County jail.
The driver, Johnson, also was arrested on suspicion of willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest and driving under suspension.
Rockwell was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and attempted to hide a handgun inside a business while fleeing, the State Patrol said. He also was arrested for tampering with physical evidence and possession of a controlled substance.
