The City of Verona celebrated Black History Month on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. at the Verona City Hall by honoring some of its “First African Americans” from within the City of Verona.

The program opened with the singing of the Negro National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing” followed by a welcome by Mayor Bobby William. The prayer was given by Bubba Lollar, assistant pastor of the Anchor Church in Verona.
