TRAFFIC ALERT: Road closures for Saturday's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and 5k in DC

WASHINGTON (7News) — The 2024 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and 5K will take place on Saturday, March 16.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) issued a traffic advisory for the race, which will cause road closures and parking restrictions in D.C.

When safe to do so, MPD will assist motorists crossing the race route to relieve traffic congestion, but they recommend plans for alternate routes and traveling around closures.

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking from 6 p.m. on Friday, March 15, to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 16:

• Pennsylvania Avenue from 3rd Street to 7th Street, NW
• Constitution Avenue from 3rd Street to 7th Street, NW
• 3rd Street from Constitution Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
• 4th Street from Madison Drive to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
• 6th Street from C Street to Constitution Avenue, NW

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking on Saturday, March 16, from 12 a.m. to 2 p.m.:

• Constitution Avenue from 7th Street 23rd Street, NW
• 10th Street from Constitution Avenue to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

MPD says all street closures and listed times are subject to change based on prevailing or unexpected conditions.

They also advise motorists to see alternate routes and to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic will be expected. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.
