Wind damage was reported across the South Plains on Sunday, after 50 mph winds gusting up to 73 mph.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Wind and fire weather warnings continue on this First Alert Weather Day.

Winds have gusted over 50 mph so far in Lubbock, with stronger gusts reported in northwest areas Sunday afternoon.

Few showers and some strong storms in eastern counties, moving northeast and will move out of the area in the next hour or so.

Winds will continue very strong through the evening. Wind will still be from the northwest on Monday at speeds of 25-35 mph until mid-afternoon.

Colder temperatures will move into the South Plains overnight and continue through Tuesday.

Lows will fall to around 40 degrees Monday morning and it will be chilly Monday with highs around 50 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

A freeze is possible Tuesday and Wednesday morning as lows fall to the mid to upper 20s over the central and northern communities, including Lubbock and Plainview.

Scattered clouds on Tuesday and afternoon highs will remain in the upper 50s.
