CAFES, pubs, restaurants and takeaways across Dorset and the New Forest have been handed new food hygiene ratings recently.    

Each week, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) inspects businesses across the country, assessing hygiene and safety, structural compliance and confidence in management.         

Across the UK, every food outlet including convenience stores, restaurants, hospitals and care homes are given a hygiene rating.          

What each hygiene rating means:     

0 - Urgent improvement necessary       

1 - Major improvement necessary        

2 - Some improvement necessary        

3 - Hygiene standards generally satisfactory          

4 - Hygiene standards good        

5 - Hygiene standards very good      

Here is a roundup of scores given by the FSA this week: 

Rated 0:  

Elm Tree in Hightown Road, Hightown, Ringwood was rated on February 10, the Food Standards Agency website says.  

Rated 3: 

Five Ways Chinese Take Away, a takeaway at 366a Charminster Road, Bournemouth was given the score after assessment on February 14 

Rivaaz in St Thomas Street, Lymington was given a score of three on February 13.  

Rated 4: 

Framptons in High Street, Ringwood was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on February 13. 

Brisa in High Street, Lymington was rated on March 13 

Fordingbridge Sports Club at Fordingbridge Recreation Ground, Ringwood Road, Fordingbridge was rated on February 10  

Rated 5:  

Peggy May’s Cafe in High Street, Lyndhurst was rated on March 18 

Fox and Hounds in High Street, Lyndhurst was rated on March 19 

Subway in Charminster Road, Bournemouth was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on February 15. 

Subway, in Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth was also given a score of five on February 12. 

Poppins New Milton in Station Road, New Milton was rated on March 14 

New Forest Golf Club in Southampton Road, Lyndhurst was rated on March 14 

The Brew Forest in Mount Pleasant Lane, Lymington was rated on March 14 

The Three Bells (Brewers Fayre) in Silver Street, Hordle, Lymington was rated on March 9
