Three suspects turned themselves into police after a man was injured in a shooting in Seattle’s Rainier Valley neighborhood early Friday morning.

According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), a business owner called 911 just before 2 a.m. Friday to report that “multiple suspects” were attempting to break into his property on the 3500 block of Rainier Avenue South. The department said the 911 caller told dispatchers he was driving to his business to “confront the burglars.”

Minutes later, 911 dispatchers received reports of a shooting at the same location on the 3500 block of Rainier Avenue South. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been shot.

Responding officers gave the man aid until crews with the Seattle Fire Department arrived and took over. The man was then taken to Harborview Medical Center. The SPD initially said the victim was in “critical condition” around 2:40 a.m., but said in a 5 a.m. update he was in “stable condition.”

The department said the man who was shot is a friend of the business owner, but said in a blotter post that “many of the details surrounding the shooting are still unclear.”

Three suspects turned themselves into police at the SPD’s South Precinct immediately after the shooting, according to police.

Detectives are interviewing those involved and reviewing evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
