One school evacuated, two others locked down in York County
JOINS US LIVE NEAR THE SCHOOLS IN MANCHESTER, YORK COUNTY. THE DISCOVERY OF A THREATENING NOTE IN A INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL BATHROOM IS WHAT BROUGHT POLICE TO THIS NORTHEASTERN SCHOOL CAMPUS EARLIER TODAY THE SPRING FORGE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL WAS EVACUATED AND TWO OTHER NEARBY ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS WENT ON LOCKDOWN. YOUR COUNTY REGIONAL POLICE SHOWED UP ALONG WITH SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT OFFICERS. BY 1 PM THE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL HAVE BEEN CLEARED BY OFFICERS AND CANINE UNITS. THE STUDENTS RETURNED TO THE CLASSROOM AFTER LUNCH. SCHOOL BUILDINGS HAVE NOW RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATIONS. POLICE ARE STILL INVESTIGATING IN THE SUPERINTENDENCE IS THOSE RESPONSIBLE WILL BE DEALT WITH TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW

One school was evacuated, and two others were locked down in York County on Thursday because of a threat.Above: Headlines from WGAL News 8 at Noon.The Northeastern School District sent a message to parents saying Spring Forge Intermediate had evacuated and that Shallow Brook Intermediate School and Clarence Orendorf Elementary School were locked down.It came after the discovery of a threatening message in a bathroom at the intermediate school.York County Regional Police, along with sheriff's officers, responded to the school.By 1 p.m., the building had been cleared by officers and K-9 units.The students returned to the classroom after lunch. The schools on lockdown also resumed normal operations.An investigation is underway to determine who is responsible for the threat.Superintendent statementSuperintendent Jason Bottiglieri released the following statement:"Earlier today, students at Spring Forge Intermediate School were evacuated due to a threatening message discovered in a lavatory facility."Out of an abundance of caution, the administration acted immediately to ensure student safety and quickly implemented our standard response protocol which included a prompt response by the York County Regional Police Department, York County Sheriff's Officers, and other local first responders."By 1:00 PM the school building was cleared by law enforcement K-9 units and Spring Forge students returned to the building after completing lunch. All school buildings have now returned to normal operations."I would like to thank all of our community partners who assisted with today’s incident for their expedited response as well as commend our students and staff who followed our safety procedures flawlessly. "All events for this evening will go on as scheduled. This incident will be fully investigated and the individual responsible will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law."Previous message sent to families"Out of an abundance of caution, Shallow Brook and Orendorf have been placed on a Secure due to an SFI evacuation concerning a threatening message. All staff and students from SFI and SBI and CRO are accounted for. Be advised that there may be an increase of law enforcement presence in the area. We will update you when the event has concluded."
