CP24 reports that a suspect wanted in connection with a 2022 lounge shooting in Vaughan, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals, has been apprehended in the United States.
York Regional Police announced on Thursday that Kensworth Alton Francis, 29, of Mississauga, was taken into custody by U.S. marshals in Hartford, Connecticut, on March 26.
Authorities had been searching for Francis for two years following a fatal shooting at ATL Lounge on Highway 7 on July 23, 2022. Upon responding to the incident at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers discovered three victims with gunshot wounds. Tragically, both Tosin Amos-Arowoshegbe, 25, and Chibueze Momah, 22, succumbed to their injuries. Additionally, a 20-year-old woman attending the lounge sustained injuries but survived. Both deceased individuals were security guards at the lounge.
In a news release, York Regional Police acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various agencies, including the BOLO Program, the RCMP INTERPOL Fugitive Apprehension Support Team, and the United States Marshals Service, in locating the suspect.
Francis faces charges of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. Police are currently coordinating with the Ministry of the Attorney General to initiate Francis's extradition to York Region for legal proceedings.
