Residents of a Hamilton residential home welcomed their MSP for afternoon tea and a trip down memory lane.

Christina McKelvie visited Lornebank care centre at Peacock Cross to meet some of its 74 residents as well as staff after being invited by manager Rishi Sujeewon.

The Hamilton, Larkhall & Stonehouse representative joined residents for sandwiches, tea and cake and enjoyed hearing their tales of days gone by.

She even delighted one 98-year-old resident who had discussed a song her late husband used to sing to her – by tracking it down and playing it back to her, bringing floods of memories and joy.

Care centre manager Rishi said: “The visit from Christina McKelvie MSP was welcomed by all staff and residents – everyone had a wonderful time and we hope to see her again soon.”

Ms McKelvie said: “It was a lovely afternoon and a real pleasure – a huge thank you to Rishi for inviting me along.

“The home recently underwent an inspection with fantastic results and that was clear to see during my visit; the hard work and dedication is clearly paying off.”
