Spring is here, and Gospel Rescue Mission wants to bring new hope to the homeless and hungry with “Easter Blessings to Go,” a free in-person banquet and drive-through food outreach event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday at the H.S. Lopez Family Foundation Center of Opportunity, 4550 S. Palo Verde Road.
The event is designed to create a day of joy, support and renewal for about 2,000 people facing homelessness and hardship, said Lisa Chastain, CEO of Gospel Rescue Mission.
Attendees can expect a meal, along with Easter baskets, showers, clothing, haircuts, social services and fun activities for families.
Volunteers can assist with time, talent or treasure: Donations of whole hams, eggs, potatoes and non-perishable food to prepare Easter brunch are needed. Additionally, volunteers can help prepare meals, distribute resources or facilitate activities for families.

Financial donations are also welcome, said Chastain. Every dollar helps: Just $3.02 provides a meal to a person.
