Stylish concept art has offered the first glimpse into the upcoming Captain Cook Square restaurant Bazaar.
Last year, it was revealed that Tarek Thoma - the man behind The Oven Restaurant on Linthorpe Road - would be opening a luxurious new venue at the Middlesbrough complex. The exciting new venue promises to feature flavours from around the world and "exquisite" food, cocktails and desserts.
Plans revealed in October how the venue would be home to ‘food-court style’ cooking areas, a dessert station and even a copper pizza oven being made in Italy, especially for the project. An opening date was initially scheduled for early 2024 - with the complex now confirming that it will be launching in late spring or early summer.
Now, new concept art has shown off how the interior design could look at the restaurant and bar, with foliage seen hanging down from the ceiling beside quirky light structures and what appears to be a central circular bar area. Pictures taken from Captain Cook Square this week show how the unit of the new eatery has been fenced off as work gets underway on the project.
As previously reported, the restaurant promised to feature luxurious interior design and a glass orangery extension wrapped around the building. Plans for Captain Cook Square - published on retail property firm Brassington Rowan's website - have also earmarked where the eatery will be located, labelling it as Unit 3A.
Tarek brings experience working at Michelin Star kitchens - such as L’Escargot in London - and famously cooked for Tony Blair and US President George Bush while at the Dun Cow in Sedgefield in 2003. He is, of course, well known on Teesside for The Oven Restaurant on the corner of Southfield Road.
These images come in what has been a huge week for Captain Cook Square, with the confirmation of plans for a £2.5m soft play centre and inflatable theme park being announced earlier this week. Once open, Bazaar will join go-karting venue Level X, from Lane 7, and gaming venue The Wired Lobby. Also set to open soon are American fast food chain Wendy's and a boutique cinema.
However, as reported this week, plans to bring a new bar, roof terrace, and golf simulator venue from bosses behind popular Middlesbrough bar The Dovecot had been shelved.
