A crash on Hwy. 21 between Hillsboro and Otto injured a man from Louisiana, Mo., Monday afternoon, April 8, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 3:20 p.m., Jacob L. Stoops, 33, was driving a northbound 2018 Chevrolet Colorado and struck the rear of a 2007 Kia Rondo, driven by Nathan J. Helmig, 30, of Maryland Heights, that was stopped due to congested traffic, the report said.

Stoops was seriously injured and taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

As of Tuesday afternoon, April 9, Stoops was in satisfactory condition, a hospital spokesman said.

According to the report, both drivers were wearing seat belts, and the vehicles were extensively damaged.
