GLSEN Arizona will be hosting a Rainbow Readers Day at the downtown Flagstaff library on May 4, featuring LGBTQIA2S+ kids literature and crafts.
The event will be between 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturday for children -- who must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Each participating child will be given a free Rainbow Library book to take home with them.
The event includes two trilingual story times of age-appropriate, inclusive books, with accompanying crafts.
From 1 to 2:30 p.m., the book will be read in English, Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL), and participants can create their own book and explore community resources. The book for the 2:30 to 4 p.m. session will be read in Navajo, English and ASL, and the craft will be a workshop led by GLSEN Flagstaff organizer Margarita Martinez, called “I am Origami.”
GLSEN stands for the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network.
